This is one of those absolutely beautiful silk dresses that you can only find from the 1940s. It is in fantastic shape which means that it was stored properly for all these years. The colors in the printed silky rayon portion of the design are crisp and vibrant. The bodice and back skirt of the dress is made from a back silk crepe, while the front skirt is a beautiful flower pattern. It has a classic forties cut with a more loose fitting bodice The cut is fitted with neatly capped sleeves. At the back it buttons to close with a a series of crepe covered buttons. This slims over the body and into the waist where it transitions to the print with a curved line. The skirt falls to below the knee and has a slight flare to its cut. The skirt is very interesting in its construction. At the front, it is a solid panel that is cut slightly shorter then the solid black part of the skirt at the back. On each hip the printed silk it wraps and gathers to the back where it turns into a large bow and ties. This gives it a bit of an apron feel at first glance is a very pretty and unusual detailing technique. Excellent condition with one very minor note below
Unlined and closes with a side painted metal zipper and the series of buttons that runs down the back. There is slight creasing to the fabric at the waist.
